I LOVE Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)!!!

I find it especially helpful working with teens because it does a great job breaking the different skillsets into 5 main areas that helps teens live their best lives!

So how does DBT Help Teens who Self Harm?

Here are the 5 main skills areas:

  1. Mindfulness

  2. Distress Tolerance

  3. Emotion Regulation

  4. Interpersonal Effectiveness

  5. Walking the Middle Path

True, fully adherent DBT treatment requires an interdisciplinary team of individual and group therapy. While I don’t provide the full-DBT treatment service, I do incorporate many of the concepts and skills into my counseling work. It’s one of the reasons I created Teen Girl Therapy Group.

I have witnessed magical shifts in teen’s lives when they come to Teen Girl Therapy Group.

That’s the power of group therapy! We aren’t meant to go it alone, as people we are built to support and empower each other- especially when you’re a teenager.

If you’re ready to start seeing a therapist, make sure you reach out to someone local to you. If you happen to live in the Woodbridge, CT area, we’d love to connect with you here:

If you are concerned that you, or someone you know, may be considering killing themselves, please connect them with help.
