Teen & Young Adult Therapy & Counseling in Branford, CT (Telehealth in CT & NY)
Mallory Grimste, LCSW is licensed to provide therapy in Connecticut and New York.
All kidding aside… here is how to contact us so we can get you started:
You might be a parent reaching out for your tween or teen.
Or you might be 18 or older and ready to call for yourself.
Either way, you can meet in person at our Branford, Connecticut office, or choose telehealth if you’re located anywhere in Connecticut or New York.
If anxiety, emotional overwhelm, identity questions, or relationship stress are starting to feel like “too much,” this is a place where things can begin to make more sense….
Before we meet, we’ll guide you through a simple, structured intake process so you know exactly what to expect.
Takes about 5-7min to complete.
In-Person Counseling in Branford, CT
You can meet in person at our private counseling office in Branford, Connecticut.
The office is located at 250 W Main Street, Suite 203, in Branford, easily accessible from surrounding New Haven County and Connecticut Shoreline towns.
Sessions take place in a quiet, private setting designed to feel comfortable and emotionally safe.
There’s also a separate waiting area where parents can conveniently wait during their child’s appointment.
Telehealth Counseling in Connecticut & New York
If you’re located anywhere in Connecticut or New York, you can schedule telehealth sessions.
Telehealth allows you to meet from home, school, or another private space, as long as you’re physically located in Connecticut or New York at the time of your session due to licensing requirements.
Virtual sessions follow the same structure and level of privacy as in-office appointments.
This can be especially helpful if you’re away at boarding school, living on a college campus, or commuting between households within Connecticut or New York.
It’s Simple As 1, 2, 3!
→ STEP 1: Complete your application form.
This gives us the information we need to determine whether it makes sense to schedule a phone screening.
→ Step 2: Schedule your free 15-minute phone screening.
This brief call focuses on logistics — how we work, what to expect, scheduling options, and payment or out-of-network details. It is not a therapy session.
→ Step 3: Attend a Client Assessment.
If the phone screening suggests we may be a good fit, we’ll schedule a full 45-min Client Assessment. This is an in-depth interview to determine together whether ongoing counseling here is the right next step.
*Application Forms & Phone Screenings Are Required for all New and Returning Clients last seen over one month ago.

You’re not the only one with questions…
Your time is valuable, and we want to make sure this feels like the right fit before moving forward. Below are answers to the most common questions about in-person counseling in Branford, CT and telehealth sessions in Connecticut and New York.
-
Yes to both! You can attend sessions in person at our Branford, CT office, or schedule telehealth appointments if you are physically located in Connecticut or New York at the time of your session.
Counseling sessions are by appointment only, offered Tuesday–Thursday between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM. Each session lasts 45 minutes.
For everyone’s safety, we may temporarily require masking in the office or move sessions to telehealth if someone is sick or weather conditions make travel unsafe.
-
No. Counseling focuses on working directly with teens and young adults so they can build confidence and learn how to use and communicate the skills that feel helpful to them.
That doesn’t mean parents are left out.
For clients under 18, we offer structured ways to stay connected during treatment:
A Treatment Progress Report parents can complete about every three months.
Complimentary 20-minute parent calls with Mallory for questions or updates.
A 45-minute parent session (in person in Branford or via telehealth in CT or NY) to review goals and progress, with or without your teen present.
-
No. For clients under 18, a parent or legal guardian must attend the phone screening since we’ll review scheduling, consent, and financial details.
If your teen is 18 or older, they must attend the call for legal and ethical consent purposes.
We know phone calls can feel intimidating. If your young adult would feel more comfortable, a parent is welcome to be nearby for support.
-
We’ve offered group therapy in the past and truly value the power of shared growth and connection.
At this time, we don’t have any active groups running. If you’re interested in future group opportunities in Branford, CT or virtually in Connecticut or New York, let us know and we’ll add you to our interest list.
-
Mallory is an out-of-network therapy provider, which means insurance is not accepted as direct payment for teen or young adult counseling sessions.
Session fees are paid upfront. You may then submit for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan includes those benefits.
Think of it like a rebate: you pay the full amount, then submit documentation (called a “superbill”) to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
👉 We recommend calling the Member Services number on the back of your card to ask about out-of-network benefits.
If helpful, click here and we’ll send you a simple free guide to gather the right information.

It’s a big world, but sometimes paths cross. (I once ran into someone from high school on a trip to Cancún!)
If you or your teen runs into someone you know and feels uncomfortable, please let Mallory know as soon as possible. We’ll make every reasonable effort to adjust and ensure your comfort.
-
Therapy is a regulated medical service, which means we are not able to offer discounts or promotional pricing.
When you begin counseling, you’re agreeing that you are financially willing and able to invest in services without creating economic hardship.
To provide equitable care and keep rates sustainable as a solo practice, we do not offer sliding scale pricing.

We love the enthusiasm — but no.
The phone screening helps ensure that how we work fits what you or your teen need before scheduling a full Client Assessment.
If you are a returning client who hasn’t been seen in more than four weeks, a new phone screening is also required before resuming services.
Let’s Get This Therapy Party Started! 🎉
This only takes about 5-7min and applies to both in-person counseling in Branford, CT and telehealth session options in Connecticut and New York.
What Happens After You Apply?
Once your application is submitted, we’ll review it and reach out to schedule your free 15-minute phone screening.
Your phone screening is a brief call focused on logistics. We’ll review how we work, what to expect from counseling, scheduling availability, and payment or out-of-network details. It is not a therapy session. This call is your chance to make sure everything feels clear before moving forward.
If your phone screening suggests we may be a good fit, we’ll schedule a full Client Assessment.
Your Client Assessment is an in-depth interview with Mallory. It’s a space to explore what’s going on, ask questions, and determine together whether ongoing teen or young adult counseling here is the right next step.
The Client Assessment is not a guarantee of admission. Sometimes, another level or type of support may be more appropriate. If that’s the case, we’ll help guide you toward the right resources.
